About this title in Hebrew

Eighteen days in the hallucinatory south of the United States. A few months before hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans a young Israeli journalist travels by train, bus, cars, hitchhiking and on foot, to discover what is called the 'true heart' of America, the land of Oh Susana and Georgia on my Mind. A surprising travel diary of the other America, a far cry from the American dream.

Yuval Ben Ami was born in 1976. He has written a play which was staged by the New York theater group Blank Slate. He has written for newspapers and magazines in Israel and abroad, such as The Boston Globe, National Geographic and Masa Aher. Ben Ami has also written a book on the Finish Mythology.

"An anxious journey with a guitar to America of the southern farmer and jazz, the land of the blacks, racism, softness, beauty and despair. Ben Ami has the intriguing pace for the place he creates, there is music in his writing, he listens to the wind and the pain and shows the ridiculous and the unbelievable... the book is modest, with a clear eye but without tedious phrases... a book that smells good. It is enjoyable, smart, for it springs from life."
